Billing varies based on your commercial usage, but a major component of commercial billing depends on the peak amount of kW used instantaneously in the previous month. In other words, the exact second that you are using the most electricity you ever use in a month effects your bill. Prices are structured this way, because power plants must be sized to meet the highest instantaneous load, instead of our “average” usage. This peak typically occurs in the middle of the day, when your solar is working. When solar production is occurring, your highest peak demand is lower, because solar has taken some of that demand off of the grid. By lowering your peak instantaneous draw, you see an even bigger drop in your electric bill!
