Active Energies, Inc was founded by Megan Gilman and Jason Weingast. Our mission is to promote energy efficiency, renewable energy, and environmental responsibility in our communities. We aim to help our customer make a healthy contribution to the environment for future generation, while benefiting financially. We know that money drives the bottom line and we will show you how to maximize returns on energy efficient purchases.
President - Megan Gilman
Born and raised in the small town of Greenville, NY, Megan graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. During college, Megan focused on courses in combustion and air pollution. Her innate interest in alternative fuels led her to study abroad at the world renowned School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, which was the first university to offer undergraduate studies in the fields of photovoltaics and solar energy.
Megan moved to Avon, Colorado in late 2004 to work for a local consulting firm as a Mechanical Engineer. She is intimately familiar with HVAC design, sizing, and performance. Her breadth of experience in mechanical systems, design process, and interdisciplinary coordination has given her the foundation needed to be a valuable part of any consulting team.
By continually advancing her education, Megan aims to provide Active Energies customers with the highest quality of service in cutting edge fields. She completed coursework in the Design and Installation of Photovoltaics through Solar Energy International. Megan is also certified by RESNET as a Home Energy Rater, qualifying her to provide homes with an ENERGY STAR® award for efficiency, as well as a $2,000 builder tax credit. She is also a LEED Accredited Professional®.

Vice-President - Jason Weingast
Jason hails from Peekskill, NY. In 1997, he moved to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business in accounting and information systems. Jason has extensive experience working on interdisciplinary consulting teams. Jason also completed training to be a certified Home Energy Rater, paving the path to ENERGY STAR certification and the $2,000 builder tax credit.
When he's not working hard, Jason is playing hard. Extracurricular activities include skiing, hiking, biking and mountain climbing. Jason's love for the outdoors has turned into something much more - a responsibility to future generations that they might enjoy the same activities and beautiful scenery as he has.
Throughout Jason's extensive traveling, he has discovered why energy usage and efficiency is so important, worldwide. It has become his passion to help reduce and conserve energy for the future.

Project Manager - Chuck Pratt
As a Colorado native, Chuck Pratt can’t seem to leave the beautiful scenery and multitude of outdoor activities that the Rockies have to offer. The earthy environment of the University of Colorado in Boulder gave Chuck a green outlook on life. There, he received a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a minor in Business Administration. After college, Chuck returned to Denver to take on the business world. Working for a large glass company gave him experience in project management and insight into the massive amount of waste and reluctance of large corporations to initiate recycling programs. Chuck has completed training to become a Certified Home Energy Rater giving him experience in energy consulting and efficiency through the use of in-depth energy audits. As a skilled solar photovoltaic installer, Chuck hopes to bring renewable energy generation to the sunny state of Colorado. By bringing clean renewable energy to the state, Chuck hopes that future generations of outdoor lovers will be able to enjoy the skiing, biking, and hiking that take up the entirety of his free time.
Philanthropy
Active Energies, Inc. believes that climate change and resource depletion are truly global problems. AE is proud to announce that 5% of profits are donated to promoting renewable energy in the developing world for refrigeration of essential medication to water pumping where fresh water is scarce. Currently, AE is teamed up with the Tibetan Village Project, a non-profit organization focused on promoting self-sustainability while preserving the rich cultural heritage of Tibet. Please check out their website to learn of all the wonderful programs they are currently undertaking.
Besides monetary donations, AE has found value in volunteering in our local communities. Megan volunteers her time as a youth mentor through Eagle County's Buddie's program for at risk youth. Megan also acts as the captain of a team of cyclists for Colorado's annual MS150 bike tour, benefiting Multiple Sclerosis. In 2006, her team raised over $7,000 to help move closer to a cure for MS. Active Energies is proud to sponsor the cyclists for the 2007 MS150! In addition to being a valuable and energetic team member in the MS150, Jason volunteers with VITA, offering free tax assistance for local low income families and individuals.
Active Energies participates in the Habitat for Humanity efforts in Eagle and Lake Counties and also donates to the Montrose County Habitat for Humanity.
